Zelensky says Russia has widened attacks to hit Ukraine's data centres

Volodymyr Zelensky warns that Russia has expanded its campaign to deliberately strike Ukraine’s data centres, internet providers and commercial infrastructure to maximize disruption to civilian life. Recent Russian drone strikes hit a Kyiv business centre housing Datagroup, killing four people and damaging servers, while a separate attack killed a 14-year-old Israeli citizen. Russia’s defence ministry said it struck sites used by Ukrainian military intelligence and listed targets including Datagroup, New-Telco, United DC, Kyivstar and Parkovyi; footage of the damaged Inkom centre has been verified. About 100,000 households in Kyiv and the surrounding region experienced internet outages, some firms are transferring data abroad, and local services such as electronic transport information in Lutsk have failed.

Ukrainian officials stress that attacks on data infrastructure disrupt life‑saving alerts and essential civilian services, and warn of local outages and higher internet costs as repairs proceed, while also emphasizing that Ukraine’s highly decentralised network prevents a total blackout. The strikes come alongside intensified Russian attacks on energy and rail infrastructure as winter approaches; Ukraine has responded by targeting Russian refineries and logistics hubs. Separately, Polish prosecutors opened a probe into a suspected sabotage of a Starlink ground station thought to route traffic to Ukraine, amid broader Western concerns about hybrid attacks testing NATO support.
