MTV On-Screen Graphics Recreation

A fan-made, pixel-accurate recreation of MTV music-channel on-screen graphics aimed at archival preservation rather than commercial use. It reproduces the look and behavior of original channel overlays - animation timing, element positioning and dimensions, typography, colors, transitions, movement and easing - with channel-specific variants for Club MTV, MTV Hits, MTV Live and MTV Music. MTV logos and branding are included for fidelity but remain third-party trademarks; the recreation is explicitly unaffiliated with MTV/Paramount and the source code is released under the MIT License while branding assets are not covered.

The implementation is browser-based (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and runs with no backend: open index.html or serve the folder locally and control overlays via the Developer Console. Exposed functions include switchChannel, setProgrammeText, setLogoVisibility, showNextSong, hideNextSong, showCounter and hideCounter; a demo sequence shows typical broadcast timing. The background is transparent for overlaying on video, and Helvetica was used during development but is not distributed due to licensing, so a suitable licensed or open-source font is required. Missing variants (MTV 80s, MTV 90s), font replacement and API documentation are listed as TODOs, and contributions of reference recordings, measurements or code are welcomed.
